FileVia Android Privacy Policy
This policy applies to FileVia for Android (package name: com.fileassistant.app). It explains local file processing, transfers you initiate, and data handled by Google SDKs. The iOS privacy policy is separate. 中文摘要
1. About the Android app
FileVia is a local-first productivity utility for managing files, scanning a single document page, recognizing text, and transferring selected files. The Android app does not require an account or sign-in and contains no advertising, subscriptions, or in-app purchases. If offered as a paid download, checkout is handled by Google Play, not by an in-app payment form. Google's own account and payment processing is governed by its policies.
2. Files and processing on your device
Files, photos, and videos you import or receive, scan images, recognized text, thumbnails, edited results, and app settings are processed and stored locally by default. FileVia does not provide a developer-hosted cloud file library. Local editing, conversion, and ordinary image or PDF saving do not require uploading your content to a FileVia server.
Scan originals and derived images may be kept in temporary app storage to support editing, re-cropping, restoration, and recovery from a failed save. Temporary storage is not a backup and may be cleared by Android. You decide whether to export or share your files.
3. On-device text and QR recognition
The Android app uses bundled Google ML Kit Chinese text recognition and barcode scanning. At this policy date, the direct dependencies are text-recognition-chinese:16.0.1 and barcode-scanning:17.3.0. Recognition runs on your device. Input images, text, and recognition results are not sent to Google merely to perform these recognition operations. You can save an ordinary image or PDF without successful text recognition.
On-device recognition does not mean that the Google SDKs never communicate with Google. Their operational and diagnostic data is described below. See the ML Kit Terms & Privacy.
4. Google SDK operational and diagnostic data
ML Kit sends operational, usage, and diagnostic information to Google. Google's SDK disclosure describes the following data:
- Device information, such as manufacturer, model, operating system version/build, and available ML hardware accelerators.
- Application information, including package name and app version, and SDK feature versions.
- Per-installation identifiers, which are not intended to uniquely identify a person or physical device.
- API configuration, such as input image format/resolution and input/output sizes, rather than the image or recognized text itself.
- API events, such as feature initialization, detection, and resource release, performance measurements such as latency, and error codes.
Google uses this data for diagnostics and usage analytics, including maintaining and improving its APIs. The SDK transmits this data using HTTPS. Google handles it under the Google Privacy Policy; further details are available in the ML Kit Android data disclosure.
FileVia currently has no separate switch that disables this SDK telemetry. We do not control Google's retention periods, do not promise that these records are immediately deleted, and cannot promise to delete Google-held SDK records on your behalf. Deleting local files or uninstalling FileVia does not itself delete data already received by Google.
5. Transfers you choose and HTTP security limits
When you start a file-sending session, receive through a QR code, start computer import, or use a system share action, the selected content can leave your device for the recipient or app you choose. Device-to-device transfers exchange file contents, names, types and sizes, together with connection/session information such as addresses, ports, and access codes. These transfer flows do not use a FileVia-hosted file relay.
FileVia's transfer tools are intended for trusted devices on the same Wi-Fi or hotspot. The actual connection is made to the address selected through the user-provided QR code or transfer session. The app does not enforce private-network-only addresses, so we do not guarantee that every connection remains within your local network.
Current device-to-device and computer-import connections use HTTP, not HTTPS. File contents, metadata, and session information are not protected by transport encryption or end-to-end encryption in these flows. Access codes limit access but do not encrypt traffic. Use only networks and recipients you trust, avoid transferring sensitive content over untrusted networks, do not scan untrusted transfer codes, and close transfer sessions when finished. A recipient or another app may retain a copy under its own controls and policies.
6. Android permissions and selected access
- Camera: photographing documents and scanning transfer QR codes.
- Network, Wi-Fi state, and nearby Wi-Fi devices: finding available connection information and operating transfers, including computer import. Runtime permission requirements depend on the Android version.
- Photos, videos, and documents: Android system pickers and share/open actions give FileVia access to items you select. The app does not request broad all-files storage access.
Where Android provides permission controls, you can manage them in system settings. Refusing camera or nearby-device access can prevent the related feature from working. Standard network permissions are not necessarily presented as a runtime permission prompt.
7. Local retention, deletion, and hidden content
You can delete local library items within FileVia. Uninstalling the app generally removes its private app data. Exported files, system-gallery copies, and copies already received by another device or app are separate: deleting the FileVia copy does not delete those copies. App-private temporary files may also remain until a workflow is completed or discarded, or until Android clears them.
Hidden-content and password features provide local access control within the app. They are not a system-level encrypted vault, do not encrypt network transfers, and should not be treated as a guarantee against access outside the app.
There is no FileVia account to close. Local deletion is separate from any Google-held SDK or Google Play records. Refer to Google's policies for its retention and privacy controls; we cannot guarantee deletion of those records through FileVia support.
8. Audience and children
FileVia is a general productivity utility. The intended product audience includes users of different ages, including children; this is separate from an official content rating. Before a release is offered to children, its SDK data practices, transfer features, and applicable child-safety requirements must be reviewed. An intended audience is not a statement that the current pre-release build has completed that review.
The current Android build does not operate an age-verification or parental-consent flow and does not create child user profiles. Parents and guardians should review the SDK data practices above and supervise file transfers. Do not send children's personal information to support. Contact the support address below with privacy questions without including private documents or identifying details about a child.
9. Policy updates and contact
We may update this policy as the Android app or its SDKs change. The date above identifies the latest revision; where appropriate, material changes will also be described in app release information. For privacy questions, local-data deletion guidance, or support, contact 15871731171shuao@gmail.com. Please do not send private documents or sensitive transfer contents in a support request unless needed and explicitly requested.
